Kale seems like a long lost memory in comparison to this brand new crop of food trends of 2015. To ring in the new year, we like to mix it up a bit and ring in a new batch of ingredients. Sounds like a Chopped episode, doesn’t it? In this case we don’t have celebrity chef judges choosing the ingredients in our baskets, but instead the International Food & Restaurant consultants at Baum + Whiteman who have officially sent out their 2015 trend report.

Among the first things they are noting will probably take over the food industry is tech. We can get behind this. People are becoming more and more interconnected with gadgets than ever before, so why wouldn’t it be the case when it comes to eating and dining? From apps, ordering kiosks and more we can expect much of this to come to life. Among other things to be “in” in the new year, they also mention honey, hummus, japanese snacks, oysters, and… insects. The first few we can get behind. The last one… will be difficult, but anything’s possible, of course.

At the end of their very interesting and detailed report, they perfectly list the top 16 food buzzwords that are expected to be most prominent in 2015. You may be surprised or you might just be ahead of the curb.

Something we can get behind. From pistachio macaroons to pistachio ice cream, we cant’t deny that this nut has been cropping here and there.
