Today is National Baking Day! And, if there is one thing I love most on this Earth besides my cat, it would certainly be baked goods. Cookies, pies, cakes. You name it. I will eat it.

I really don’t know why I am so in love with these things considering that my mother was certainly not a baker, but I guess I really just wanted to eat the things my friends’ parents were making them. At every bake sale, school fair, community pot luck, etc. everyone would bring around their parents’ baked specialties like chocolate chip cookies or warm banana bread that I would devour with my eyes before gobbling up myself.

Ever since then I’ve devoted much of my spare time to creating the perfect cakes and pastries that everyone (but mostly me) can enjoy.

Here are some of the most classic all-American baked goods that make me very, very happy to this day.

What could be be better than waking up to a slice of this? Of course, one slice always turns into about a whole loaf, but we won’t tell on you.
