Today is National Pizza or something or other day and of course, as a New Yorker, I love pizza. I may not eat it all the time – because I hear the stuff isn’t the healthiest – but it’s certainly delicious and holds a special place in my heart. Ah, it’s amoré.
Anyways, while I can argue that just about NYC slice will do the trick, there are some pizza joints that seem to take it to the next level. Whether it’s the intricate ingredients are perfect crust, each of these certainly have something special to offer.
Prepare to make your mouth water. *wipes drool off face*

Fresh and crispy, every part of this New York mainstay is divine.

This happens to be “America’s Best Pizza” and America can’t be wrong, right? However, their incredibly, staggeringly, exhaustingly long lines will make you wish for $1 pizza at some nondescript location. If you can power through the wait, though, it will surely be worth it.
Artichoke Basille’s Pizza

I’m sure there will be some New Yorker backlash for this as it’s SO cliche, but you can’t tell me that anything is more satisfying at 2 AM when you’re absolutely hammered than a huge, greasy slice of artichoke pizza.

While not as popular as the rest on this list, this is still a pretty great spot in Manhattan and my salvation when I was vegan. Seriously, even if you’re not vegan, you should try the vegan pizza.

I happen to work in FiDi and the fact that this is literally steps away from mu office is a true internal struggle. The pizzas are huge and delicious and the toppings are customizable so you always get what you want. Weather permitting, sit outdoors.

When I worked in Nolita, everyone would come into my shop and ask me how to get here. The hype is real – and for a reason.
Motorino

Motorino is chic and you will be sure to spot all the beautiful people of NYC here. Go with the classic margherita and you won’t regret it.
Roberta’s

This Brooklyn joint is as trendy as it gets and getting a table is always a wait, but their heated outdoor tiki bar will help you work up an appetite – after a few drinks of course.
Paulie Gee’s

Another Brooklyn mainstay, vegans and vegetarians can rejoice in their extensive and inclusive options.
