Remember when we told you there were a few lucky people who would be attending a Harry Potter-themed Christmas dinner? Well, it happened, and it was certainly more magical than we ever imagined. Approximately 200 mega-fans were transported into the Great Hall at Hogwarts on December 3rd for the feast of a lifetime. While we would like to think it was hosted by Dumbledore himself, the massive event was held by Warner Bros. Studios – which happens to be home to all Harry Potter sets in London. Close enough. But if you think this event came cheap, you would be seriously wrong. Coming in at $350 a ticket, you can imagine that these fans are not messing around. For the rest of us muggles who could only dream of attending a dinner at the Hogwarts dining (which is infinitely more glamorous than the cafeterias of our high school days), TIME Magazine was in attendance and wrote a stellar, in-depth account of the whole experience. From canapes to costumes, there was simply no detail to be missed. We almost wish we had gotten to experience this! That’s OK. There’s always next year, but we’ll just keep drooling over what sounds like the feast of a lifetime. Need a refresher on the menu?
“The dinner menu was as elaborate as the night itself, beginning with a first course of ham hock and broad bean terrine with pea puree and walnut bread or confit pear, stilton cheese, radicchio and watercress salad. The second course—served as masked Death Eaters entered the hall in clouds of smoke to take pictures with guests—was roast turkey stuffed with cranberry and sausage with cumin carrots, brussels sprouts, crispy potatoes and rich gravy or [lasagna] with courgette, mozzarella, basil and pepper.”
