Celebrity chef Ina Garten, from Barefoot Contessa: Back to Basics (Food Network), can always be counted upon to come up with amazing recipes. In this video she shares a recipe that mimics a double hot chocolate recipe from the famous Parisian tea shop, Angelina.
Surprisingly, this recipe is rather easy. You simply need whole milk, half and half, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, sugar, vanilla, and espresso powder. Garten tells you how to assemble everything together to make the most divine liquid cocoa in the video. We’ll give you a hint, though, the only hardware you’ll need is a saucepan and a whisk.
To serve your hot chocolate, top each mug with some freshly whipped and sweetened whip cream. Make your own whipped cream by whipping together one cup cold heaving whipping cream and two tablespoons sugar in a chilled bowl with a chilled whisk until they reach stiff peaks. This takes a small bit of time and is labor intensive so we like to use our stand mixer for the task.
Happy sipping!
