I will admit that marshmallows on their own are really nothing I get excited about. They mostly seem like fluffy, slightly flavorless tufts of sugar. It’s like biting into a pillow. If I were put in a room with a bag of marshmallows and a bag of carrots, I would probably reach for the carrots.

That being said (!), marshmallows when they are cooked, roasted, baked, etc. are absolutely delicious. There’s nothing that warms my soul up as much as sitting in front of a fire and making perfectly roasted marshmallows on a stick. I could probably eat 20 in a row or maybe win an eating competition.

Less common, however, is using marshmallows in baking. Of course, chocolate, caramel and peanut butter are common favorites, but unless you’re eating a fluffernutter, we don’t often think of whipping out a bag of these sugary clouds.
