A cool $28,924,270 in the last year alone! And all he does is wrap your burritos!

Steve Ells, the CEO of Chipotle certainly does not wrap your burritos (although, we thank all the workers that do).

Here is a fun fact, though: The Chief Executive Officer of your favorite faux-Mexican chain gets paid the big bucks and is America’s 27th highest paid CEO of a public company. And, according to data from a new research company Equilar, Ells is the second highest paid CEO of a food company.

The top spot goes to Aramark’s Eric Foss. What is Aramark? I legitimately did not know until I googled it .2 seconds ago. I think they distribute food to schools, but I am still pretty unsure. If that is, in fact, one of the things that they do, then; TWO THUMBS DOWN. He could really use some tips from Steve Ells.

Anyway, despite the fact that we worship at the altar that is Chipotle, Ells and co-CEO Montgomery Moran (who ranks lower in 31st place) are facing a whole lot of backlash from shareholder because of their high compensation plans.

I am not going to get into a heated debate over this, but I will note that it’s slightly (read: very) interesting that Ells makes way more even than the CEOs of food companies like Pepsi (coming in at 81) and Coca Cola (91).

So, the lesson learned here, amigos? Just keep eating food until one day you become a food CEO because they get to think about good noms all day while making bank. That is all.
